Steve Englishbey - Guest Hitting Instructor

Steve Englishbey periodically serves as a guest hitting instructor at Sorcerer Softball Academy, but his influence is felt every day in the academy's offerings and effectiveness.  "Steve has had a profound influence on all of us as instructors," Phil Mumma said, "because he is preeminent nationally in understanding and teaching the MLB or elite swing." According to Mumma, "Steve has refocussed us to understand how today's elite hitters generate so much power. By his leadership in studying video of world-class modern day hitters, he has helped us see that they are able to generate power from the centers of their bodies and transfer that pop to their bat heads. This isn't your grandfather's swing."  According to Mumma, nearly five dozen former Sorcerer students and players are competing at the collegiate Division 1 level last spring.  "Some of our kids have broken team and conference hitting records, made all-conference and All-American and have been candidates for National Player of the Year and even made the U.S. National Team.  They may not all know it, but Steve's influence has helped shape their success."
